Domaine Dard & Ribo is located in Mercurol, a village located east of the village of Tain l'Hermitage; we are located in the northern part of the Rhône Region. The Domaine is managed by René-Jean Dard and François Ribo, two men who, despite their corporate reputation, maintain a low profile; confirming this the cellar and the aesthetic side of the buildings are not maintained like a Bordeaux Chateau. René-Jean and François started producing about 30 years ago (1884), they immediately eliminated the use of chemistry both in the cellar and in the vineyard; to date the vineyards are cultivated according to the dictates of Biodynamic Agriculture. Over the years, the vineyard area has expanded to about 8.5 hectares of vineyards, of which 0.50 are rented out. The wines produced are the classics of the Northern Rhône Appelations, made with native white grapes of the Roussane variety and with red grapes of the Syrah variety. In the cellar the bunches are 90% de-stemmed, the remaining non-de-stemmed part will favor a spontaneous fermentation without selected yeasts; macerations lasted from 10 to 20 days depending on the type and year. The refinement is carried out in medium-small size barrels. The result is serious and deep wines, with a strong natural imprint and perfect adherence to the terroir of origin.
