This splendid wine was born in the renowned Barbaresco Cru called Montestefano, on marly-limestone soils and facing the south. Classic nose: expresses aromas of rose petals, berries, root and plum; the breath is fresh and young and anticipates a certain austerity then repeated in the mouth. In the mouth the fresh vintage is highlighted by solid tannins...
This wonderful wine was born in the renowned Barbaresco Cru called Montestefano, on marly-limestone soils and facing the south. The vineyards are located on the top of the vineyard and are a few meters from the shop-house where Teobaldo Rivella and his wife, expertly following the vintage, give us a Dolcetto d'Alba of fine quality: the grapes harvested...
Teobaldo Rivella belongs to a generation of winemakers (his father Serafino produced and sold bulk wine and in demijohn like his grandfather Pietro and brother Guido for 40 years he was a winemaker for Angelo Gaja). He begins to bottle for himself in 1967 from the vineyards left to him by his father and since then has produced just over 10,000 bottles a year divided between a few bottles of Barbaresco (around 8000) and very few of Dolcetto (around 3000). It hasn't changed and hasn't wanted to change anything. He kept the same spirit and idea of wine, allowing himself only the thinning and the choice of the grapes already on the plant. Supporter of a natural viticulture, he has always accepted the seasons over the years with his courses for better or for worse with great respect for time and tradition without any concession to modern style and haste. Respect for the ripening of the grapes, respect for the refinement.
