For decades, the Domaine Zind Humbrecht is one of the most reputed manufacturers and well known of Alsace; currently the company's reins are held by Margaret and Olivier Humbrecht, Lèonard Humbrecht's heirs in the domaine located in the Municipality of Turckhmein. The company owns several vineyards Grand Cru among the best in the region, such as the Brand of which owns 2.4 hectares. The main cultivated varieties are: Riesling (11.80 Ha), Gewurztraminer (12.00 Ha), Pinot Gris (11.00 Ha) Muscat (1.40 Ha) The wines of Zind Humbrecht express a deep and consistent terroir : power, wealth, complexity and beautiful acidity are combined to form a balanced whole. However, to predominate are always the variety and / or terroir, depending on the year. In the vineyard they practice biodynamic viticulture with a minimum of pruning during the growing season, the deep roots and total grassing lead to self-regulation in the case of extreme drought or excessive rain. In the cellar are made long pressing cycles (12-24 hours compared to normal 4-6 hour cycles) and short cycles of clarification after the pressing in order to ensure that the natural yeasts and the proteins are maintained in the must. Always it takes the natural malolactic fermentation of small amounts of malic acid present in ripe grapes. The maturation of the wine "sur lie" is made in large barrels (foudres) with an accurate control of the exchange of oxygen and reductive capacity.
