The company has made wine Champagne in Vertus for five generations and more precisely since 1856; the current owners, as well as brothers, have inherited vineyards from his grandfather Albert, succeeded by his son Roger and Madame Veuve Fourny. Since 1993 the brothers are leading the company carrying each own personality in Cuvèe produced. The vineyards are located in the magnificent terroir of Vertus, ranked Premier Cru; the soils, predominantly limestone, containing little clay and are fragmented by pure gypsum layers. The exposure of the vineyards looks East, South and Southeast. In the vineyard it operates a strict selection of the grapes that are vinified separately according to their origin (about thirty "lieux-dit" found in Vertus Premier Cru). The average age of the vines is over 40 years. The agronomic operations involve the use of compost as fertilizer and practice grassing. The winery, the grapes Chardonnay and Pinot Noir come only if they have reached perfect ripeness, they are harvested by hand, separately for each lot, and then gently pressed. only the best juices are preserved, called "cuvée". The company's philosophy is not possible interventions in the wine making process: after a first fermentation, the wines rest more than six months on its lees in tanks or in small oak barrels used. Then follow the normal processes according to the classic method champenoise. The collection of Champagne Veuve Fourny et Fils wants to highlight the Terroir of Vertus and recognize the wines from the Côte des Blancs, played on styles treated with a good dose of elegance and freshness.
