Rafael Palacios is related to the wine world since birth, it is in fact heir to a very important family of Rioja: Bodega Palacios Remondo. Just come of age, he decided to follow in the footsteps of the famous winemaker Alvaro Palacios brother as well, going to study Oenology in France, where he collaborated with Petrus and Moulin Cadet Bordeaux. In 1997 he decided to return to Rioja and bottle his first white wine: the Placet (type from which he feels particularly attracted also encounter with the winemaker John Cassegrain). But Rafael was in search of new adventures, so in 2004 decided to buy the old vineyards in the region of Valle del Bilbei under the Designation of Origin Valdeorras. The surface of the vineyards conducted in Biodynamics is 19.5 Ha planted with varieties Godello and 1.2 has cultivated Gallega Treixadura: land, very fertile and very acidic, they are planted in terraces and seat at altitudes between 600 and 720 meters high. In the cellar Rafael Palacios personally controls the vinification process, seeking the utmost respect for the identity of this land and the purity of expression of his wines. As Sortes is wine from old vines grown on terraces and positioned in the heart of the Valley of Bilbei, Louro is obtained from younger plants grown by River Bilbei; Sorte O Sore is the flagship wine which sees 2011 as the first year of production.
