Azienda Agricola Poggio alle Querce is located on well-known Via Bolgherese, not far from little middle-age village named Bolgheri, where Sassicaia is produced, and just near a famous producer recently landed in this area, Angelo Gaja. Since 1956, Pavoletti’s family owned a larger farm in Castagneto Carducci and has been producing traditional wines. After a company spin-off that reduced our property, in 1999 we started to renovate vineyard in Poggio alle Querce, introducing typical grapes for Bolgheri area like cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot. Our vineyards stretch onto the first plain created by Bolgheri, the little river naming this area of Tuscany, in a wonderful location with hundred hectars of wood on the surrounding slopes, between the charming villages of Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, where particular terroir and micro-climatic conditions support a long-lasting ripeness of cabernet that gives sweet tannins to our wines. We started to produce our new wines in 2002 with a red Toscana I.G.T. of cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese, and we are now launching our first Bolgheri D.O.C. with 80% cabernet s. and 20% merlot.
