Maison Laherte Frères was founded in 1889 by Jean-Baptiste Laherte, at the time most of the vineyards were in Chavost. Currently, 10.5 hectares of land under vine mainly place on the southern slopes of Epernay (villages of Chavot, Epernay, Vaudancourt, Moussy, and Morangis Mancy planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier), Cote des Blancs (Vertus and Voipreux planted with Chardonnay), and in the Vallée de la Marne (Le Breuil and Boursault only planted with Pinot Meunier). In the vineyard agronomic philosophy is the organic type, non-interventionist and assisted by biodynamic methods: plowing is smooth and well-targeted to oxygenate the soil, old vines have deep roots capable of receiving all the minerals and nutrients needed for good health of the plant; synthetic products or herbicides are not used. To prevent disease are given natural infusions to plants and foliage remains strong to support photosynthesis. The harvest is manual, the different plots are vinified separately and pressed: for fermentations using only indigenous yeasts, these are slow and natural. Malolactic is done depending on the year, it is given much importance to the use of wooden barrels and battonage.
