We are in Mamoiada, a small town in Barbagia about 650/700 meters above sea level. The area full of vineyards for about 300 hectares is considered excellent for viticulture with vineyards that exceed even 100 years that make us think of a picturesque practice rooted in the area. The company was born after Giovanni inherited from his wife an old vineyard of about 70 years in a particularly suitable area. For about 15 years Giovanni learns to work the vineyard followed by two elderly winemakers and after several vintages where the wine has been sold as bulk, in 2004 he decides to bottle 700 numbered bottles and to call the Barrosu wine. In 2005 Barrosu earns the DOC Cannonau di Sardegna and the entire production of 4000 bottles is bottled. In 2006, given the results, he decided to buy a 45-year-old vineyard and set the production of around 6000 bottles, of which 1000 as reserve. The vineyards, just under 2 hectares, are worked with traditional methods. The oldest vineyard is still plowed with oxen.
