wine description

Roagna's Barbera d'Alba DOC 2014 grows in the vineyards owned by Pira in Castiglione Falletto with south-east exposure on the Serralunga side. It is a vine that we can now define as historic for Roagna as it was purchased in 1989 and with a planted area of 0.34 ha. The number of annual bottles is usually around 2000 specimens. Fermentation takes place exclusively in wooden vats thanks to a pied de cuve of indigenous yeasts and lasts for about ten days. Subsequently, the ancient maceration technique of the submerged cap splint is applied, which lasts for at least 2 and a half months (70-80 days). The wine then matures in a neutral oak barrel for about five years.

tasting notes

Intense ruby red with purple reflections. On the olfactory examination, it reveals hints of ripe red fruit on everything. On the palate it has an important tannin, but it is above all characterized by the typical and pleasant acidity of the varietal.

aging capacity

Wine to drink but with good aging potential.

small tips

Taste it at a temperature of 17 ° C. Accompanies cheeses, first and second courses of the land cuisine.
