It comes from Rossese grapes grown in San Biagio alla Cima in the Luvaira vineyard from plants planted in 1905, consisting of 25,000 square meters of vineyards; it is undoubtedly considered one of the most important Cru of Rossese Dolceacqua Doc. The exposure looks to the south-east and to the west, the land is positioned in strips with slopes of up to 60% and its structure varies from site to site. The Luvaira vineyard is located in a higher position and does not directly perceive the influences of the sea wind. In the vineyard, thinning of the grapes is carried out on the plants with centenary vineyards for a total yield of 40 quintalil per hectare. A part of the initial grapes is not de-stemmed, in percentages that can vary according to vintage from 50% to 60%; fermentation on the skins for about 12/15 days at a constant temperature of 26 ° / 28 ° C. The refinement takes place for 12 months in steel tanks and 8 months of refinement in the bottle.
In the glass it shows a beautiful light garnet red color. The nose reveals an excellent intensity and complexity with an incredible finesse that make it unique and unmistakable of its kind. The scents vary from the fruity of merelli (wild strawberries), to raspberries, strawberry trees and cassis. Floral of dried rose. Spiced with pink pepper, leather and tobacco. On the palate it is dry, warm but well balanced by an excellent softness; fresh with good tannin and good flavor. Full-bodied with excellent balance, good intensity and excellent aromatic persistence, it closes with an extraordinary finesse.
