Sotanum with Heluicum and Taburnum is one of the three wines already celebrated at the time by Pliny the Elder. In an 18th century work, one can read that "Les Vins de Vienne are collected in the territory of Côte-Rôtie, Seyssuel, Porte-de-Lyon". These three forgotten wines of history will find new life when three winemakers - Yves Cuilleron, Pierre Gaillard and François Villard - give life to Les Vins de Vienne. They reinvent the production of the first Seyssuel wines. Sotanum is the first red released in 1998. The Rhone Valley is quite narrow in the Seyssuel area with 700 meters in width. This unique configuration provides an increase in temperatures and strong winds that limit the development of parasitic fungi such as mold and powdery mildew. The vines, planted further north of the Rhone valley, are located on the left bank of the river, the slope is light compared to those of Côte Rôtie and can be compared to the côte blonde.
Sotanum is a 2013 Syrah with a dark color, supported by a beautiful ruby red, the nose has complex and intense aromas of ripe fruit, spicy and toasted. Round attack on the palate and the tannins are silky. The wine has a nice fruitiness associated with good freshness, which gives it a good balance and good volume
Wine capable of evolving without any problem even for 15 years.
Taste it at a temperature of 16 ° C with duck breast and sautéed porcini mushrooms, tournedos rossini.
