The name Pilade was given to this vineyard in memory of Mr. Pilade, the old owner of a vineyard parcel that is now owned by Cascina Ballarin.

Dolcetto D'alba Pilade by Cascina Ballarin, with a brilliant ruby red color, presents itself with intense, fresh, fruity and very vinous aromas. Elegant, sapid, velvety, medium-bodied flavor. Excellent as a daily wine, the grapes come from the vineyards in La Morra and aging takes place exclusively in stainless steel tanks.

Climate

Winter 2019, excluding a couple of snowy events and rare rainfall, was characterized by temperatures above the seasonal average, favoring an anticipation of the vegetative recovery, especially in the vineyards with the best exposure. The climate which tends to be cold and characterized by rains from April to the end of May influenced flowering, reducing the number of grapes per cluster and therefore limiting production. The month of June, characterized by a generally hot and dry period, preceded the rains from mid-July. The excellent temperature variations during the month of August and the repeated thinning in the vineyard guaranteed to safeguard the integrity of the fruit. September, which began with a short and intense period of rainfall, continued with rising temperatures and a serene climate until mid-October. It was certainly not an easy year, with a long harvest, with limited production but characterized by excellent quality of the grapes.

Tasting Notes

It has a beautiful ruby red to the eye, with delicate purple hues. The olfactory scents are wide and intense, floral and fruity, characterized by the memory of ripe cherries and red pulp fruit in general. The taste is fruity like the nose, harmonious, with good body and good persistence.

Aging capacity

Wine with good aging potential.

Small Tips

Taste it at a temperature of 16 ° -18 ° C. Let's try it with beef stew.
