The Barbaresco Montefico Bric Mentina Docg 2018 was born in Barbaresco, on the Langa hills where, in a 19th century farmhouse, the La Ca 'Nova farm is based. The selection Bric Mentina was born in the Montefico vineyard, from three hectares of thirty-year-old vines resting on soils mixed with clay and tuff, all with excellent exposure. The vinification and aging system is traditional, with long macerations in steel and the use of large barrels for aging.
The 2018 vintage was characterized by a long winter characterized by precipitation capable of restoring the water supply of the soil weakened during the 2017 climatic trend. The winter season lasted until the beginning of March with temperatures below the historical average, favoring a slow vegetative restart of the vine. Both spring and the first part of summer continued with frequent rainfall and low temperatures. From the middle of July the temperatures have risen significantly; the long and stable period of good weather favored the slow and regular ripening of the grapes, while maintaining the heterogeneity between the vineyards.
Typical garnet, some slight ruby reflections. Classic-style nose that releases fruity, roasted, violet and spicy aromas. Agile and elegant mouth, fresh acidity and precise tannins; what emerges is the purest and most varietal aspect of the Nebbiolo grape which in vintages such as 2018 is enhanced and gives longevity to the wine.
Wine with excellent evolutionary prospects.
Taste it at a temperature of 16 ° C, paired with beef morsels in a hazelnut crust.
