wine description

Often in the world of wine we speak of passion in a superficial way and without the pathos that a wine of excellence deserves. I like to define, instead, MEA CULPA an engaging, original and, why not, heretic wine. This red wine of great opulence is the result of the work of many people; vineyard workers and cellar people who, in different places of our extraordinary South of Italy, have contributed to the creation of a synergy of tastes, scents and sensations that are proudly enclosed in every single bottle of MEA CULPA. The originality and heresy derive from my aspiration to combine the excellence of two Italian regions, Puglia and Sicily, in order to obtain an intriguing balance of power and elegance, fruit of the vines dedicated to this project. When you uncork a bottle of MEA CULPA and pour it into a large glass, it strikes you with its intense purple color, lively, never of a gloomy obviousness. The smell is immediately surprising, with a hint of chocolate that soon evolves into clear notes of strawberry and raspberries that flirt with refined nuances of vanilla.

VInes

Coming from Puglia for about 60%, the reference marietale is Primitivo del Salento, from sapling vineyards at least 50 years old, with a very low yield and a great concentration of color and flavors. Half of this is collected and slightly withered to accentuate its concentration. From Sicily comes the remaining 40%, made from Syrah grapes from the best exposed vineyards, and from large-scale Merlot grapes that are aged in medium toasted barriques.

tasting notes

It shows a beautiful intense red with intense violet reflections. The nose shows hints of chocolate with hints of vanilla. In the mouth it is powerful but always graceful, with clear notes of very concentrated red fruits

aging capacity

Wine with good aging prospects

small tips

To be enjoyed at 16 ° - 18 ° C as a conversation wine, it is well suited to accompany meat dishes and tasty cheeses.
