It comes from Pinot Noir grapes grown on 0.77 hectares of vineyards owned by the Domaine Heresztyn Mazzini, located in Gevrey Chambertin from vines planted in 1950/55. Soils are rich in limestone and clay with a good percentage of marl and fossilized shells. The grapes are transferred to steel containers where, with the use of indigenous yeasts alone, the alcoholic fermentation takes place which follows a cold pre-fermentation. The "Pigeage" are short and frequent depending on the year. The bunches are used for 50/60% entirely. The wine is aged in wood barrels used for a 70% for the duration of 18 months. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration and following the lunar calendar. Wine with Mascolini traits that makes time more affable and gives the wine greater balance and complexity.
WORKING THE VINE
Since vintage 2016 we have chosen to convert our parcels of vines to organic agriculture and to work with conviction in biodynamic growing methods and plant-based treatments. The soils of all the parcels of the domain are worked sparingly so as to maintain their microbiological life systems. To improve the yield, once pruned our vines are de-budded and thinned early, by hand. We may choose a green harvest.
Great wine typical of Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. This full-bodied wine has great density as well as undeniable depth. You can forget it in the cellar and open it after a few years when its full potential has been reached. Its masculine traits will also delight your palate.
