It comes from Pinot Nero grapes. Pommard is one of the most famous denominations of the Côte de Beaune and is known for its red wines. The soil rich in limestone, reddish-brown from the slopes to the feet produces some of the most tannic and robust wines of Burgundy. In fact, they are more powerful than their Beaune neighbors and it is often said that they are more "masculine" wines. The Premier Cru "Les Rugiens" is located south of the municipality.
The nose of Pommard Premier Cru "Les Rugiens" is fine yet powerful with predominant scents of red fruit followed by very well integrated notes of smoky oak. This wine boasts lovely length, nice density and classy tannins.
