This splendid wine was born in the renowned Barbaresco Cru called Montestefano, on marly-limestone soils and facing the south. The vineyards (over fifty years old) are a few meters away from the workshop where Teobaldo Rivella and his wife, expertly supporting the vintage, give us a traditional-style Barbaresco: 25-day maceration on the skins, use of only indigenous yeasts and aging in large barrels for 36 months followed by further refinement in the bottle.
After the month of January and the first part of February, characterized by mild temperatures and low rainfall, frequent rains arrived in March capable of guaranteeing a good water reserve in the soil. The subsequent tendentially cool period favored a delay in the vegetative restart of about ten days which lasted until the end of summer.
Barbaresco Montestefano has a bright ruby color with a light garnet nail. The bouquet is complex on the nose, with notes of raspberry, roses, spices and tar. On the palate, finesse and elegance stand out, with soft and velvety tannins, excellent structure, and perfect balance between fruit, alcohol and acidity. Long persistence with a finish that evokes the land and game.
It is a long aging wine.
Taste it at a temperature of 16 ° -18 ° C combined with a stewed hare.
