In the heart of the village of Aloxe-Corton, completely enclosed by walls and surrounded by houses, this vineyard, "Clos du Chapitre", once registered as "Les Meix", owes its name to Monaci, important owners of vines in Burgundy in the thirteenth century, which resided in monasteries located near the residence of the Bishop of the Diocese of Autun.

Wine Description

In the heart of the village of Aloxe-Corton, completely enclosed by walls and surrounded by houses, this vineyard, "Clos du Chapitre", once registered as "Les Meix", owes its name to Monaci, important owners of vines in Burgundy in the thirteenth century, which resided in monasteries located near the residence of the Bishop of the Diocese of Autun.

Vine and Terroir

The Pinot Noir grapes come from three vines with different ages with an average of 50 years. They cover an area of 0.97 hectares and are located at the foot of the hill, in the heart of the village, facing south. The soil is reddish brown with many siliceous kidneys and flint limestone debris.

Climate

First vintage of the domaine certified in organic farming. 2018 was productive, balanced and of high quality. It is a warm year, which was regularly watered and which offered magnificent ripe and perfectly formed clusters. The whites of the 2018 vintage are of great finesse. In the mouth they are fleshy, greedy and have aromas of yellow fruits. The 2018 vintage reveals elegant, fine and fresh red wines.

Vinification and Aging

Manual harvest, 100% destemming of the grapes. During the 3-4 weeks of racking, fermentation takes place with minimal intervention. A long fermentation is carried out (between 2 and 3 weeks) with 1 or 2 pigeage and mainly pumping over to obtain delicate extractions. Every year the indigenous yeasts, naturally present on the grapes, offer a different fermentation profile, which are left to express to preserve the typicality of the vintage. A soft extraction is preferred, mainly carried out through pumping over. This wine is then aged for 12 months in oak barrels, without new barrels, then the end of the refinement takes place for 6 months in vats before bottling. All the red wines of the Domaine Genot-Boulanger are neither clarified nor filtered.

Tasting notes

The nose is balanced, serene, showing a harmonious combination of fruity and mineral. The mouth is silky, with measured tannins, but the wine is full, fleshy and almost athletic. It is something of a gourmet and its long, stony finish betrays an exceptional terroir. A real wine to lay, born to last, in the mouth as in the cellar!

Aging capacity

Wine with excellent aging potential.

Small Tips

Taste it at a temperature of 16-18 ° C. It goes well with red and white meat dishes as well as medium-aged cheeses. Also try with grilled meat, especially poultry or veal.
