Wine description

It comes from Pinot Noir grapes. It comes from Pinot Noir grapes. Les Saussilles is a climat Premier Cru of the Pommard denomination in the Cote de Beaune. Wines made from climat-grown grapes can claim the title Pommard Premier Cru and also mention the name Les Saussilles on their labels. There are variations in the composition of the soil also within the Pommard Premier Cru vineyards, from the deepest and richest alluvial soils on the lower slopes, through the classic Burgundian clay-limestone soils on the average slopes, to marinate and brown the soil in the upper sites. The more "masculine" style of many Pommard wines is often attributed to the presence of iron in local soils and the mineral-rich clays that are particularly prevalent here.

Tasting notes

The nose of Pommard Premier Cru "Les Rugiens" is fine yet powerful with predominant scents of red fruit followed by very well integrated notes of smoky oak. This wine boasts lovely length, nice density and classy tannins.
