WINE DESCRIPTION

Hills exposed to east-south-east at an altitude between 250 and 350 m on medium to steep slopes, enjoying excellent sunshine. A renowned terroir, the Osterberg is mentioned in documents from the Middle Ages. The lords of Ribeaupierre owned their vines there. The grapes come from vineyards grown on clayey, fairly deep and stony soil, made up of marl and limestone. With the orientation of the east-southeast slopes, they have the characteristic of being colder than the Kirchberg.

CLIMATE

After a late burst of the bud due to the harsh winter, flowering took place in early June, i.e. before a normal year thanks to the rapid increase in temperatures in April and May. Generally it went well, as did the fruit. This two-week advance was maintained despite a rather dismal month in July. August, hot and very sunny, provided the ideal conditions for the ripening of the grapes. The crops that started early in our vineyards on 8 September 2009 were marked by ideal weather conditions. The rains were very low and the sun prevailed throughout the harvest. The almost torrid temperatures on some days combined with the relatively cool nights allowed to manage the harvest based on the data relating to their richness and maturity, but above all to their acidity. The superb general conditions of this vintage which combine earliness, maturity and perfect sanitary state allow you to glimpse wines of great resistance.

TASTING NOTES

Beautiful yellow color with amber reflections. The nose is complex and expresses itself on the notes of citrus fruits. On the palate it attacks with fruity aromas, remarkable mature acidity typical of the Osterbergs, which gives length and persistence to the wine and the great strength of this wine is given by its power and balance brought about thanks to organic agriculture.

AGING CAPACITY

Wine ready to be tasted and with excellent aging margins.

SMALL TIPS

Taste it at a temperature of 8 ° -10 ° C. Ideal with seafood and shellfish, grilled or smoked fish and goat cheeses. It also accompanies meat well.
