WINE DESCRIPTION

Hills exposed to east-south-east at an altitude between 250 and 350 m on medium to steep slopes, enjoying excellent sunshine. A renowned terroir, the Osterberg is mentioned in documents from the Middle Ages. The lords of Ribeaupierre owned their vines there. The grapes come from vineyards grown on clayey, fairly deep and stony soil, made up of marl and limestone. With the orientation of the east-southeast slopes, they have the characteristic of being colder than the Kirchberg.

CLIMATE

The 2001 vintage began with a mild winter which led to a regular interruption of the buds around April 10th. After normal growth during the spring, flowering spread for fifteen days in mid-June. The summer was generally sunny with alternating torrid and colder periods. The few rains in September had little negative effect. Fortunately, they were accompanied by low temperatures, which severely curbed any progression of disease. The harvest was carried out during the summer under the sun. Temperatures slightly below the seasonal averages for the summer and September marked this year. The wines have a delicate structure that allows you to glimpse a good aging potential for years to come.

TASTING NOTES

Beautiful yellow color with amber reflections. The nose is complex and expresses itself on the notes of citrus fruits. On the palate it attacks with fruity aromas, remarkable mature acidity typical of the Osterbergs, which gives length and persistence to the wine and the great strength of this wine is given by its power and balance brought about thanks to organic agriculture.

AGING CAPACITY

Wine ready to be tasted and with excellent aging margins.

SMALL TIPS

Taste it at a temperature of 8 ° -10 ° C. Ideal with seafood and shellfish, grilled or smoked fish and goat cheeses. It also accompanies meat well.
