Wine description

Climate

This vintage follows a mild winter in which the freezing phenomena rarely occurred, which did not allow the soils to structure properly. The bud break around mid-April is quite average. The spring conditions were in line with the seasonal rules both in terms of rainfall and temperature, making possible a harmonious development of the vegetation. The flowering period occurred in early June. In early July, an exceptional heat wave caused burns on the leaves and bunches. Some young plots whose roots are not yet very deep have shown signs of water stress. These weather conditions induce an early development of the vines. The ripening period extended in August, when some rainfall, never in excess but often sufficient, returned almost ideally. The harvest took place in good condition allowing the grapes to be harvested in exceptional sanitary conditions. The vintage produced much lower yields than expected. The heat wave of July did not help the swelling of the berries.
The wines of this vintage combine a beautiful structure of minerality / acidity and a remarkable aromatic expression. These expressions are attributed to the management of vineyards in organic viticulture: the management of the soil (grass and plowing) forces the vine to immerse its root system which makes it less sensitive to the meteorological conditions of the harvest (here a hot and torrid summer) and strengthens the structure in the mouth. The aerial part took advantage of the wonderful summer conditions to bring the grapes to a beautiful and deep maturity from which the aromatic explosion of these wines.

Tasting notes

Intense yellow color. The bouquet is fine with floral aromas and delicate fruity notes. On the palate it is broad, soft persuasive, with rich and dense fruit, well balanced by acidity.

Aging capacity

Wine ready to be tasted and with very wide aging margins.

Small tips

Taste it at a temperature of 8 ° -10 ° C. Ideal for various occasions: during a reception or at any other moment of conviviality. Foie gras fits perfectly with it as well as strong cheeses (Roquefort, Stilton, Munster). Finally, it also goes well with sweet desserts, especially those based on chocolate.
