wine description
It comes from Vitovska grapes grown in the owned vineyards located in the Municipalities of Duino, Aurizina, Loc. Prepotto Trieste; the vineyards have south-east facing positions and an altitude of 260-280 meters above sea level. The average age of the plants is 20 years, these sink their roots on karst red earth soils with a lot of limestone; in the vineyard the density is 8,000 plants / Ha and the yield is around 50 q / Ha. The grapes arrived in the cellar are de-stemmed, fermented and macerated on the skins in open vats with several daily punching down and no temperature control. The malolactic fermentation takes place in large oak barrels such as the refinement that lasted for 24 months. There are no clarifications, foltrations and no use of selected yeasts.
tasting notes
In the glass it shows a beautiful amber color, with topaz reflections, not totally limpid. The scent is fruity and mineral with notes of cooked fruit and salt, in the mouth it is natural, fresh, there is all the salinity of the Karst, combined with a delicate but not weak fruit tone, a more linear and less decisive finish.
aging capacity
Wine that has no problem with aging.
small tips
Taste it at a temperature of 15 ° C in red wine glasses paired with fish, alone, after red wines or to be tasted at the end of lunches and dinners.
